The Embarcadero Surface Roadway Replacement and MUNI F-Line Light Rail Extension

Description: DTA provided planning, design coordination, phasing, traffic/pedestrian routing, preconstruction scheduling, and constructability analysis during the design phase. Embarcadero Roadway was widened and rebuilt to four lanes, and a new light rail trackway in the median was added. The overall goal was to ease traffic congestion, meet parking requirements, decrease air pollution, enhance the waterfront for public uses and to be pedestrian-friendly. DTA assisted in accelerating the schedule by six months so the light rail would be in operation for the April 2000 baseball season and opening of the new Pac Bell Park.

Construction Cost: $14 million

Description: DTA provided scheduling services as well as negotiating on behalf of the City and County of San Francisco with PG&E and with the Contractor. The historic Third Street Bridge, otherwise known as the Francis "Lefty" O'Doul Bridge, connects downtown San Francisco to the Potrero and Bayview districts. The Sesimic retrofit of the historic bascule bridge included construction of a new operator/watchman house.

Santa Rita Property Infrastructure Improvements

Alameda County, CA

Owner/Client: Alameda County Surplus Authority

Construction Cost: $65 million

Description: DTA, acting as the Owner’s Representative, provided on-site construction monitoring, budget review, and coordinating the scope of work by design consultants. Project involved land sales and redevelopment of 700 acres according to the City of Dublin’s Eastern Dublin Specific Plan. 422 acres sold to private interests, remaining acreage dedicated for street improvements, schools, and parks. Construction of the new development, mixed-use community includes approximately 17 private developers. Sites include various housing developments, shops, office buildings, and 75 acres transit center.

SEPTA Main Line Bridge Replacement Project

Owner/Client: Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA)

Construction Cost: $30 million

Description: DTA provided resident inspection and scheduling services throughout the project duration. This project required the removal of eight 100 year-old commuter rail bridges and their replacement with new single span bridges. Also included in the scope of work were the renovation and/or replacement of track, ties and ballast.

Description: DTA, as part of the Independent Engineering Consultants (IEC) group, was retained by MTA to participate in monitoring the following MTA operating agencies; New York City Transit, Long Island Railroad, Metro North Railroad, Bridges and Tunnels with respect to planning execution and management of their respective Capital Programs.
