Description: Cost estimating from conceptual design to construction documents, and scheduling and value engineering analysis assistance to the architect. The three-story, 354,158 sf passenger boarding facility has twelve gates for international flights and is connected to the new International Terminal. DTA's estimate was within 3% of the selected bid.
Oakland International Airport Expansion
Owner/Client: Port of Oakland
Construction Cost: $1.38 billion
Description: The expansion includes: renovate and expand Terminal 2 with a new concourse, provide new outbound and inbound baggage facilities, administrative office building, 6000 car garage, central plant, two-level 800,000 sf terminal and boarding area, two-level elevated roadway, pedestrian bridge and new utility corridor. Twelve new gates will accommodate increased passenger demand of 22.4 million by 2010. As part of the JTB joint venture (F.E. Jordan, DTA and Bovis), DTA is responsible for project controls (schedule, cost control, and cost estimating), project and design management for garage, infrastructure and concourses, information technology including implementing and maintaining a web-based project management system, value engineering, constructability review and assistance evaluating project delivery methods.
Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport / FIS Facility
Owner/Client: City of San Jose
Construction Cost: $45 million
Description: DTA was cost control consultant to the Program Management team, responsible for cost estimating for field change orders.The new 77,000 s.f. building has three aircraft gates with jet bridges to accommodate arrivals, a meet/greet area in front of the building, departure waiting area, duty free shops, food and beverage concessions, and an airline lounge. The facility also houses several government offices including the U.S. Customs Service, the U.S. Public Health Service, and U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. The Interim International Arrivals Facility project has been funded primarily from Passenger Facility Charges (PFCs) and Airport Rates and Charges. In 2001, Norman Y. Mineta International Airport served 13.1 million passengers.
 JFK International Airport - 2000 Redevelopment Program
Owner/Client: Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
Construction Cost: $2.5 Billion
Description: DTA, as part of the Bechtel Construction Management Team, provided scheduling, constructability review, construction inspection and cost control services. This multi-year improvement project includes offices, retail and restaurant facilities; and a multi-purpose transportation center with ticketing, check-in and baggage handling amenities. The program also features a fully automated baggage handling system, a completely redeveloped roadway network, additional cargo facilities, a new mega-terminal, and improvements to the air operation areas of the airport.
 Philadelphia International Airport - Cargo City Apron Expansion
Owner/Client: Philadelphia Department of Commerce, Division of Aviation
Construction Cost: $9 million
Description: DTA provided onsite Inspection and Survey Services, including all quality control, periodic estimates, bituminous concrete and Portland cement analysis and testing. DTA was also responsible for quality control of onsite, and airport safety control of construction in the proximity of active taxiways and runways. The Cargo City Apron Extension involved construction of a 29,000 square yard concrete aircraft parking apron for the Air Mail Facility. The Cargo City Infield Infill Project involved construction of a 54,000 square yard concrete apron and taxi lane.
